Dr Martens 2012

Last night I was invited down to the launch of the Dr Martens x Agyness Deyn at their brand spank me new shop in Manchester City Centre. As I approached the store & saw the gathering of a Dr Martensfooted mob outside I suddenly felt right at home. For those of you who have seen my inspiration wall on my bedroom ( through Instagram, not actually been in my room obviously ) then you will know that the whole 70’s-90’s grunge of silk layered with plaid and leather with fishnets and a bleached crop really rocks my socks so this was an exciting event for me. Agyness certainly knows how to bring this look into the present, with her quintessential British Punk style she has long been one of my style icons – she wears the ‘I just threw this one.. 2 days ago’ look so well so to partner up with such an iconic British brand was the perfect step for her.
It may just be me but I never think of clothing when I think of Dr Martens, but seeing the rails of goodness I now definitely will. It was like someone had taken the best of the London Punk era and VM’d it nicely in front of me. You can image these pieces would have been made or found in charity shops by the girls and boys of the early 90’s and thrown together fiercely leaving people like me wondering how the hell they did it, but now they were all there, nice new and shiny and it really gave people a styling vision of how these pieces could be worn together.
The shoes of corse were fit, like really fit. There was a shiny pewter pair of 1461 shoes that would look amazing with rolled up jeans and socks from the standard DM collection that caught my eye, but it was the Dr Martens Aggy Creepers in red velvet that really stood out, and not because most of the shop assistants had them on. I also want to mention that the girls who work in the shop frigging rock, like seriously , their style was amazing, plus they were the nicest girls – one even said she read my blog on Bloglovin – so if this is you reading this – Thankyou you made my day and your dress was seriously hot !
I got to catch up with felling Manc Bloggers Sarah and Jordan & also tried on a reversible pink and black bomber which left me a little bewildered until I tried it on and then decided actually... bombers ARE cool.
The capsule Agyness Deyn collection goes on Sale today and all of the pieces I saw last night are also online – this dress was aparticular fav as is this satchel that also can be used as backpack – perfect for all us grunge lovers!
